Who Is Eligible?

  • Household Income: Your annual household income must be £42,000 or less, verified by your local funding authority (SFE, SFW, SAAS, or SFNI).
  • Fee Status: You must hold a Home fee status.
  • Widening Participation Background: You need to meet Imperial College’s contextual admissions criteria. Not sure if you qualify? Reach out to the admissions team for clarification!
  • Course & Year: You must plan to start an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London in the 2025/26 academic year.
  • Admission Offer: You should have received an offer for a three-year or four-year full-time undergraduate course in the Department of Chemical Engineering.

Application Process

To apply for the A&BK Scholarship, you must complete two essential steps:

Step 1: Submit a Student Finance Application

  • Apply for student finance and undergo a means test through Student Finance England (SFE) or an equivalent funding authority.
  • Means testing requires submitting household income details so the student finance body can assess your maintenance support eligibility.
  • Your household income must be less than £42,000 per year, and SFE must confirm this by 11:59 PM (UK time) on Friday, 24 May 2025.
  • Important: SFE assessments can take up to 8 weeks, so apply as soon as student loan applications open.
  • Ensure you consent to share your household income details with Imperial College London, as this is required for scholarship eligibility.

Step 2: Submit a UCAS Application

  • Complete a UCAS application for an undergraduate course in the Department of Chemical Engineering.
  • You must receive an offer of admission by 11:59 PM (UK time) on Friday, 24 May 2025.

Assessment Criteria

The Department of Chemical Engineering will rank eligible applicants based on academic merit and potential, as demonstrated in their UCAS application.

Outcome of the Award

  • Notification: Successful candidates will be informed via email no later than 31 July 2025. If you have not received any communication by this date, please assume your application was unsuccessful.
  • Start Date: This scholarship is only available for students starting in the 2025/26 academic year and cannot be deferred.
  • Terms & Conditions: All scholarship recipients must accept the award’s Terms and Conditions before receiving the funds.
  • Duration: The A&BK Scholarship will be awarded annually from the 2022/23 academic year until 2026/27.
